Today’s Weather: On Monday morning (December 23), Delhi and surrounding NCR region experienced a welcome relief from the usual winter chill with light rain bringing a refreshing change to the otherwise dry and crisp weather. The rain, though brief, was enough to moisten the dust-filled air and cool the city, providing some relief to residents who endured a cold but dry December.
According to Trends.google, over 2 million searches were made on the title with a massive increase of 100 percent in search volume.
With the rain that started late at night, clouds have settled in different parts of the city. The rain, though not heavy, was steady and continued intermittently for a few hours, especially in areas like central and south Delhi, as well as Noida and Gurugram. A light rain dropped the air temperature, which had hovered around 20 degrees Celsius earlier in the day, making it feel like a pleasant winter afternoon.
North India is reeling under a severe cold wave with parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and other northern states experiencing sub-zero temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in some districts, a situation attributed to an approaching Western Disturbance.
According to the IMD forecast, severe cold conditions mixed with rain are expected to worsen over the next seven days in states like Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana.
