The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC), Chennai has said that Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and some places in Cuddalore districts and Puducherry are likely to experience heavy rain on Tuesday (December 24, 2024) and Wednesday (December 25, 2024).

This is due to the formation of a weakened low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, which is likely to reach southwest Bay of Bengal near the north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts around Tuesday. The RMC has predicted light to moderate rain at some places in north coastal Tamil Nadu. On Tuesday and Wednesday, there is a chance of rain with thundershowers at one or two places over the rest of the state and Puducherry and Karaikal regions.

On Monday, light to moderate rain is likely at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. There is a chance of fog or mist in isolated pockets during the morning. For Chennai, the sky is likely to be partly cloudy with light/moderate rain at some places on Monday. The weather in the country is dry on Sunday.
