Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) PresidentBirendra Sachdeva on Tuesday (December 17, 2024) called for a special session of the Delhi Assembly to present 14 ‘suppressed’ Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports highlighting alleged regularities under the Arvind Kejriwal-led government.

The BJP has been demanding tabling of these reports for over two years. Mr. Sachdeva pointed out the irony that Arvind Kejriwal, who rose to political fame by demanding the release of the CAG reports in 2011-12, is now avoiding publishing those reports under his government.

“In 2011-12, Arvind Kejriwal weaponized the CAG report against the Congress government. When he came to power, he ordered an ACB probe. Today, he himself has suppressed 14 CAG reports to cover up all his scams,” Delhi BJP president. allegation

Mr. Sachdeva further said, “After the court ordered that the CAG reports should be submitted to the Assembly, we demand Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi to call a meeting of the Assembly and submit all the 14 CAG reports.”

A BJP press release quoted its state president as saying, “CAG reports covering liquor excise, pollution control, and other financial matters between 2017-18 and 2021-22 were submitted but not tabled in the Delhi Assembly. Sachdeva JiThe Kejriwal government also accused the government of suppressing these reports because, he alleged, it would have brought to light “many financial scams” against the government.

Furthermore,The BJP leader has demanded that the Delhi Assembly Speaker convene a special session on December 21 to present all the 14 reports. “We direct the Assembly Speaker to convene a special session of the Assembly on December 21, Saturday and direct the Delhi government to table all 14 CAG reports in the Assembly,” Mr. Sachdeva said. He also scolded KejriwalIn defense of private power distribution companies, in contrast to his earlier position when he accused the Congress government of misusing power discoms during the Commonwealth Games.

Mr. Sachdeva added that Mr. Kejriwal had ordered an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) probe against the Sheila Dixit government in 2014 based on the CAG reports, but now, the current reports are being suppressed under his leadership. Meanwhile, through a series of legal proceedings, the BJP filed a petition in the Delhi High Court on October 29, demanding that the reports be tabled. The court ordered the Delhi government to respond, and after a delay in submitting the reports, the government admitted to the court that it was responsible for taking permission from the lieutenant governor to table the reports.

The BJP quoted Mr. Sachdeva as adding, “We hope that after these 14 CAG reports come to light, Atishi Marlena’s government will have no choice but to recommend an inquiry against the previous Arvind Kejriwal government.”
