After a French court sentenced Dominique Pellicote to 20 years in prison on Thursday for repeatedly drugging and raping his wife, Gisele Pellicote, world leaders praised his unflinching fight for justice for rape victims. “Merci Gisèle Pélicot (Thank you Gisèle Pélicot),” French President Emmanuel Macron wrote on Platform X.
Calling her a source of inspiration, Macron said her dignity and courage “inspired and inspired France and the world.”

It was in the French town of Mazan that the couple moved to when they retired and where Dominique began asking 70 other men to come to their house and rape his unconscious wife. As all the men could not be identified as part of the investigation, only 50 others were given lesser sentences.
In France’s neighboring Spain, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said, “What a dignity. Thank you, Gisèle Pelicot. Let’s change sides out of shame.”
Among other French leaders, far-right politician Jordan Bardela called Giselle a trailblazer for speaking up for the French people and victims of rape and assault. French National Assembly Speaker Yael Braun Pivet also expressed his gratitude to Giselle, adding, “The world is no longer as grateful to you as you are,” he added.
