Hyderabad: With an aim to boost urban development, the Telangana government has approved the formation of two municipalities and 12 municipalities, official sources said. In this regard, a notification will be issued in a day or two.
Thereafter, the state’s urban landscape will expand from its 13 municipalities and 141 municipalities.
Mahbubnagar and Mancherial will be upgraded to municipalities. The new municipalities were: Kohir, Gaddapothram, Gummadidala and Isnapur (Sangareddy District); Kesamudram (Mahbubabad); Station Ghanpur (Janagaon); Maddur (Narayanpet); Yedulapuram (Khammam); Aswaravpeta (Bhadradri Kothagudem) and Chevella and Moinabad in Rangareddy district.
The provincial government has also decided to merge many surrounding villages into municipalities. 6 in Parigi Municipality, 7 in Narsampet Municipality, one village each in Narsingi and Shamsabad Municipality and 6 villages in Karimnagar Municipality.
The proposed moves will bring uniformity in infrastructure standards and improve the quality of life of citizens across the state.
