Industry and Information Technology Minister Sridhar Babu on Monday discussed with members of a visiting business delegation to Malaysia the possibility of attracting investment in the areas of solar energy, dry port, sewage treatment plant and marketing support for women entrepreneurs and startups in Telangana.
He told the delegation members highlighting Telangana’s investment-friendly policies and how the state has created a conducive environment for investment in areas such as electric vehicle manufacturing, industrial development and commerce.
The visit of the delegation was organized on the invitation given by the minister when he participated in the Telugu Mahasabha in Malaysia last month.
The program was organized by the Malaysia Telangana Association.
Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Jupalli Krishna Rao were present along with Telangana PCC president Mahesh Goud during the discussion with the Malaysian representatives, a statement issued by Sridhar Babu’s office said.
The minister stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral trade relations between Telangana and Malaysia, especially in the areas of palm oil farming and tourism. He invited Malaysia’s cooperation to build a state-of-the-art sewage treatment plant for waste and sanitation in Hussensagar, highlighting the government’s plans to establish two more dry ports in the state, and said Malaysia’s participation in their development. Proposals to develop Kinnarsani and Srisailam backwaters as major tourist destinations with resort facilities were also exchanged.
He said there are over 6.4 million women in Telangana who are members of self-help groups and have sought Malaysian assistance in marketing their produce. He proposed to organize an exhibition to showcase Telangana products in Malaysia, which received a positive response from the delegation. He encouraged Malaysian firms to look for investment, saying that there are plenty of opportunities in the food processing sector.
Agriculture Minister Shri Nageswara Rao asked Malaysia to supply palm oil seeds or set up nurseries in Telangana.
