RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has thrown his weight behind the demand to cancel the competitive examinations conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) recently under controversial circumstances.
The former deputy chief minister, who is on a tour of the far-flung border regions of the state to strengthen the party for the upcoming assembly elections in less than a year, reached the capital on Saturday (December 21, 2024) night.
The candidates who staged round-the-clock demonstration in cold weather demanding the cancellation of the 70th Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) to be held on December 13, reached the Gardani Bagh area of the city.
Accompanied by close aide and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav, the former deputy chief minister briefly interacted with the protesters, before declaring “We stand with the students on this issue. The Nitish Kumar government should order the cancellation of the exams.
“For every step you take, Tejaswi is ready to move forward four paces,” he told the protesters.
His visit came a day after Mr Yadav held a video chat with protesters, many of whom urged the young leader to spare time to support their movement.
Notably, hundreds of examinees boycotted the exam at an exam center in the city, alleging that question papers had been leaked.
The allegation has been met with a strong denial from the BPSC, which has claimed that the disruptions were caused by “social elements” who appeared as part of a “conspiracy” to get the exam cancelled.
However, the Commission has instructed about 5000 candidates who have been appointed in the ‘Bapu Exam Council’, which has become the center of controversy, to take the exam again.
However, due to the allegations of paper leakage, the fairness of the examination has been clouded, so it has been demanded that the examination of all 912 centers where around five lakh examinees appeared be canceled and re-conducted.
