Sketch of couple robbing jewelery shop at gunpoint public Pune news

Pune city police have released a sketch of two suspects who robbed a jewelery shop on BT Kawade Road on December 8 at gunpoint and sprayed pepper spray in the eyes of its 77-year-old owner.

Walchand Achaldasji Oswal, a shop owner, a resident of Naya Nana Peth, Pune Camp, lodged an FIR in this regard at the Mundhwa Police Station.

According to the FIR, it was operated by Oswal and his son Arihant Jewelers at Borate Wasti on BT Kawade Road In Mundhwa. They opened the shop around 10 am on November 8th.

After doing business all day, he started working in the shop. At around 9:30 pm, Oswal’s son went out to drink a cup of tea and was busy with the account register, when two men entered the shop by pulling the shutters of the shop.

One of them pulled a gun on Oswal and sprayed pepper spray in his eyes. After that, the robbers stole 35 grams of gold jewelery worth around Rs 245,000.

After Oswal shouted for help, people from a neighboring shop rushed to the spot, but the robbers fled towards BT Kawade Road, the FIR said.

The police have registered a case under Section 309(6), 3(5) of the Indian Judicial Code and various sections of the Indian Arms Act.

Based on the clues obtained from the CCTV cameras installed at different locations and the details given by Oswal, the police prepared a sketch of the two robbers.

The police issued a sketch today and appealed to anyone with information about the suspect, aged around 25 years, to contact Mundhwa Police Station at 020-29807118 or Senior Police Inspector Neelkant Jagtap at 8007066300.

The police have promised to give a reward to those who give the right information.
