In a major twist in the ‘Supari’ killing of BJP MLA Yogesh Tilekar’s maternal uncle Satish Wagh, the Pune police have arrested Wagh’s wife for allegedly being part of a conspiracy to oust her husband.
An investigation by the crime branch of the Pune city police revealed that the abduction and killing of Wagh was a contract killing for which the hired attackers were paid ‘betel nuts’ of five lakh rupees. Among the five suspects arrested by the Pune police so far is Akshay Harish Javalkar alias Sonya (29), a former tenant of the deceased, who allegedly gave ‘betel nuts’ to the deceased due to their past enmity.
“On Wednesday, we arrested Mohini Wagh (48), wife of the deceased, for her alleged involvement in the conspiracy to kill her husband. He will be produced in court on Thursday and we will keep him in police custody for questioning. An officer of the crime branch of the Pune police said. Mohini is the sixth person to be arrested in the said case.
55-year-old Satish Sadba Wagh of Manjari Budruk was abducted on November 9 at 6:20 am while taking a regular morning walk near his home. About 12 hours after the abduction, her body was found in Sindavane village near Yawat, about 50 km from Pune city, on the evening of the same day. In the investigation, it is revealed that Wagh was killed by stabbing and beating. Wagh, who was a farmer and also owned a small restaurant, is survived by his wife Mohini and sons Omkar and Abhishek. Wagh is the maternal uncle of BJP leader and Legislative Council member Yogesh Tilekar. The investigation into the incident has been handed over from the local police to the crime branch of the Pune city police.
The investigation showed that on December 9, at around 6.15 am, the tiger left home for his routine morning walk. A few minutes later, he met Nilesh Sodnar, a resident of the same locality, who was also walking. Moments later, Sodnar heard the screeching of the tiger, which had been forced into an SUV by some men. They fled the scene with the tiger. Then Sodnar ran and informed Wagh’s family about the incident and then the police reached there.
