Pushpa 2 scandal: Rs 2 crore relief to the victim’s family

Telangana Film Development Corporation (TGFDC) President V. Venkat Ramana Reddy, popularly known as Dil Raju, will hand over Rs 2 crore as ex-gratia to the families of the Pushpa 2 tragedy victims.

The development comes after actor Allu Arjun, one of the accused in the stampede, announced a ‘goodwill gesture’ of Rs 25 lakh for the treatment of eight-year-old Shreetej, who is struggling for life in Kims. Hospitals in Secunderabad three weeks after the incident.

Addressing the media at the hospital on Wednesday (December 25, 2024), Allu Arvind, Allu Arjun’s father, said, β€œTo support the family and the boy and for his future, we thought we should help him with Rs 2 crore. The amount has been requested to be handed over to Dil Raju and delivered to the family.”

Giving the details of the incident, he said that Allu Arjun, who was present at Sandhya Theater on the night of November 4, will contribute Rs 1 crore, Mithri Film Makers and Pushpa 2 director Sukumar will contribute Rs 50 lakh each.

Meanwhile, Sritej’s father M. Bhaskar confirmed that the family plans to withdraw the case against the actor. β€œWe got support from Allu Arjun from the second day of the incident. We don’t like being arrested because of us,’ he said in a conversation with the media.

35-year-old Revathi died in a stampede during the benefit show of Allu Arjun starrer ‘Pushpa 2’ at Sandhya Theater on November 4, while her eight-year-old son is in the intensive care unit of a private hospital. A week later, the three owners of Sandhya Theater were arrested and the actor was released on bail after spending a night in Chanchalguda jail.

Incidentally, TGFDC chairman Dil Raju is the producer of Ram Charan starrer Game Changer which is scheduled to release in January 2025.
