Visakhapatnam:Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has promised to speed up the community development work there by visiting tribal areas regularly fortnightly.
Expressing his deep hatred for the lack of development in such areas, he decided to stay there for two to three days every two months, evaluate the local situation and advise the authorities.
The Deputy Chief Minister unveiled a three-phase road construction plan for tribal areas and criticized the previous YSRC government’s spending priorities, at a foundation-laying ceremony in Saluru constituency on Friday.
Pawan Kalyan said in reference to the Rushikonda Darbar project, it cost the exchequer Rs 500 crore, and cited it as an example of misinvestment. Such funds could be utilized for the development of backward districts,’ he said.
PK questioned the “disappearance” of `690 crore earmarked for backward villages under the State Apportionment Act.
The Deputy Chief Minister recalled seeing many problems in tribal areas during his 2017 Praja Porata Yatra. He said that roads are the lifeline of development.
“The tribal areas have been neglected for a long time. I have climbed the mountain to understand your difficulties and will work tirelessly to address them. I did not say that I will perform miracles in an instant. Give me a year. I will show change in the tribal areas,’ he said.
In an emotional address, the minister assured the tribal community of his unwavering commitment. “I love you as much as I love my children. You tested me in 2019. I’m here, standing strong for you, and I won’t rest until we make meaningful changes in your lives.”
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the speedy approval of road projects in agency areas has been received from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
