According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature has increased by 2 to 5 degrees Celsius in many places of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. A few places in Saurashtra and Kutch recorded below-normal minimum temperatures; Some places in Jammu and Kashmir.
Cold wave continues in North Indian states. Weather in Delhi-NCR and many parts of North India witnessed a drop in temperature with light rain. But it is snowing in the mountains.
The IMD has predicted that the minimum temperature in northwest India will drop by about 2 degrees Celsius in the next two days, followed by an increase in the minimum temperature by 2-4 degrees Celsius. Rain accompanied by thundershower is likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada on 27th and thundershowers and hail over Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha on 27th and 28th December.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature has increased by 2-5 degrees Celsius at many places in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha and by 1-3 degrees Celsius in Maharashtra and Telangana. 2-5 degrees Celsius at many places in Rajasthan and Gujarat states in the last 24 hours.
A few places in Saurashtra Kutch recorded below normal minimum temperature (-1Β°C to -3Β°C); Some places in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
The IMD has said light to moderate rain/snowfall in western Himalayas and light rain is likely in Uttar Pradesh. According to the IMD, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 12.05 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 21.2 degrees Celsius today at 19 degrees Celsius.
Cold wave and fog conditions continue over northern regions like Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. The IMD has predicted very likely frost wave conditions over parts of Himachal Pradesh on 24 and 25 and severe frost wave conditions in isolated pockets on 26 December. Cold wave conditions are likely to occur in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh on 24th and 25th. A cold day has been observed in Rajasthan on the 24th.
Due to such severe conditions, several parts of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh recorded below 0 degrees Celsius in the morning while several parts of central and western India recorded as low as 12-18 degrees Celsius. The IMD recorded today’s minimum temperature at 6.5 degrees Celsius in Punjab’s Patiala.
