Nizamabad:The Nizamabad Municipal Corporation has launched a special campaign to collect property tax arrears for the financial year 2024-25, reminding residents that excess payments will attract a 2 percent penalty. Officials emphasized that June 30 and December 31 are the biennial deadlines, urging taxpayers to meet these cutoffs to avoid additional charges.
The property tax notification was issued earlier, and now revenue officials are visiting taxpayers encouraging online payment. Municipal Commissioner Dilip Kumar convened a meeting with officials to streamline the collection process and directed a division-wise interaction program to clarify payment procedures.
According to the Telangana Municipal Act, property tax can be paid in two installments. If the first installment is paid by June 30, a penalty of 2 percent will be applicable from July 1, while late payment after December 31 will be penalized from January 1.
Commissioner Kumar emphasized that timely payment of taxes would contribute to the development of Nizamabad and appealed to the people to settle their dues soon and risk action under the Municipal Act.
