Three people were killed when a motorcycle crashed into the wall of a shrine in Nalgonda

A freak accident claimed the lives of three people near the ancient shrine of Devarakonda in Nalgonda district on Saturday (December 21, 2024) morning.

Around 6:45 am, a speeding motorcycle swerved to avoid sheep on the road and crashed into a shrine near the place of worship. “The impact knocked down a wall made of heavy cinder blocks, which fell on three people standing nearby, killing them instantly,” police said.

The deceased have been identified as 56-year-old shopkeeper Mohammad Haji of Thatikole village, 23-year-old hotel worker Mohammad Abdul Khader of Medipur and 25-year-old housewife Mohammad Nabina of Champapet, Hyderabad.

The shelter was used earlier in the night by fair-goers, many of whom had left since 4 a.m. “Haji and others were standing with a two-wheeler when the wall collapsed after the accident,” police added.
