‘Nearly 10 lakh permanent government jobs given in 1.5 years’: PM Modi praises Centre’s ‘record breaking’ jobs at job fair | India news

PM Modi at Job Fair: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lauded the central government’s efforts to provide ‘millions of government jobs in the last 1.5 years’. Addressing a job fair virtually on Monday, Prime Minister Modi said his government has created a “record” by providing permanent government jobs to nearly 1 million people in the last 18 months.

“A campaign to provide government jobs is underway in various ministries, departments and institutions of the country. Even today, more than 71,000 youths have been given appointment letters,’ he said.

“In the last 1-1.5 years, our government has given permanent government jobs to around one million youth. This in itself is a very big record. During the tenure of any previous government, the youth did not get permanent government jobs, said the Prime Minister.

Speaking about his visit to Kuwait, PM Modi said, “I returned from Kuwait last night. There I had a long meeting with the youth and professionals of India. Now, after coming here, my first program is going to be with the youth of the country. It is a very happy occasion to start a new life for thousands of youth in the country today. Your dream of many years has come true. Many years of hard work have paid off.”

The new appointees selected from across the country will join departments such as Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Posts, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services and others.

On Monday, the program was organized in 45 places across the country.

Speaking at the event, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that more than 29 percent of the 71,000 recruits were from the OBC category. There has been a 27 percent increase in backward class recruitment under the Modi government compared to the UPA, he said.

In Monday’s recruitment, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were 15.8 and 9.6 respectively, Singh added.
