Jayaram, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Sarath Kumar, Rajinikanth, Suriya, and Vijay. These were co-stars in Nayantara’s first seven films, directed by top-notch directors like Fazil, Sathyan Anthikkad, P Vasu and accomplished talents like Hari and AR Murugadoss. No wonder Nayantara had one of the biggest launches for actors in South Indian cinema. In a recent interaction with The Hollywood Reporter, Nayanthara revealed what made her go through this phase of ascent. “Initially, I didn’t know what I was doing. I was put in front of all those giants right from the start,” said Nayanthara, who was recently seen in the Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale.

Talking about working on P Vasu’s Chandramukhi, the Tamil remake of Malayalam blockbuster Manichitrathaju, Nayanthara said, “The first scene I shot on the first day was with Rajini sir. I think what helped me the most was that I didn’t know how big he was. At the time I had only worked with superstars of that stature, so being ignorant of their kind of stardom didn’t help me.” She also credits the filmmakers who shaped her early career. “I worked with all those great filmmakers early in my career, and they helped me develop as an actor.”
