Mass Outreach Program to benefit Defense Pensioners of Vellore Region held at VIT

Governor RN Ravi distributing checks to beneficiaries at an outreach program held at VIT Vellore on Saturday.

Controller of Defense Accounts, Chennai organized Sparsh, a public outreach program for the benefit of defense pensioners and family pensioners of Vellore region at Vellore Institute of Technology on Saturday.

The program was organized by Indian Army Headquarters South India Region, Chennai and Vellore District Ex-Servicemen Welfare Board in collaboration.

Governor RN Ravi, who presided over the event, felicitated the Chakra awardees and Defense Force veterans.

He spoke about the contribution of Vellore in the Indian freedom struggle. He further highlighted the role of the Indian Armed Forces in nation building and in providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief, a statement said.

More than 2100 defense and family pensioners participated in the outreach program. Their grievances were taken up for quick resolution.

Lt. Gen. Karanveer Singh Brar, General Officer Commanding, South India Region; Mayank Sharma, Special Controller of Defense Accounts; and General Dinakaran, Indian Coast Guard Sub-Inspector were present.
