Home Minister G Paramesh said that the Karnataka government wants police officers and employees to work to make the police department more people-friendly.
Inaugurating the new building of Gokul Road police station in Hubli on December 24, he said that while police officers have the right to take action against those who violate the law, anyone who approaches the police station should not be treated as a criminal. “The police should listen to people’s complaints and not judge everyone by the same standard,” he said.
The Home Minister reminded that every facility is being provided to police officers and employees so that they can work more impartially.
Expressing concern over the increasing number of youth addicted to drugs, he asked the police to take initiatives to make the twin cities drug-free.

Two more police stations
After that, the Home Minister inaugurated Hubballi Rural Police Station and Vidyanagar Police Station. Addressing the gathering at these places, he said that the Karnataka Police Department ranks first in India due to its efficient work and people-friendly measures.
Steps were taken to control the incidence of cyber fraud and for the first time in the country a team consisting of DGP, ADGP, IG and seven SPs was formed to tackle this menace. He said that 100 new police stations are being constructed at a total cost of 200 crores and another 100 crores will be spent on purchasing new vehicles.
President Basavaraj Horatti emphasized that the police personnel must understand the pressure under which they work and create an environment in which they can work peacefully.
