Congress minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar has accused Congress minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar of using abusive language against Karnataka BJP MLC CT Ravi after the Belagavi police on Thursday registered an FIR against him.
Hebbalkar, the women and child development minister in the CM Siddaramaiah-led government, filed a police complaint at the Bagewadi police station alleging that Ravi had used abusive language minutes after the council adjourned.
A case has been registered under BNS sections 75 (sexual harassment) and 79 (insult to the dignity of women).
The incident took place at 1 pm after Congress MLCs protested Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments about Dr BR Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha during the debate on the Constitution.
After that, the chairman of the council, Basavaraj Horatti, adjourned the meeting. Congress MLCs and ministers entered the House while BJP MLCs also entered with posters.
During a heated exchange, Hebbalkar accused Ravi of using abusive language and also lodged a complaint against Horatti.
Later in the day, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Law Minister HK Patil and other leaders met Horatti and demanded action against Ravi.
