On Monday, an 8-year-old boy fell unconscious after getting caught in the swing rope tied to the tree in front of the house. He died on Tuesday during treatment at Ranaghat Upazila Hospital in West Bengal.
The child has been identified as Debjyoti Pal.
They were found unconscious when family members came to his aid on Monday afternoon. He was immediately taken to Ranaghat Upazila Hospital.
Debjyoti was the only child of Vishwajit Pal, a resident of Sabujpalli in Shyamnagar village panchayat area of Ranaghat-2 block.
Bishwajit, who runs a grocery shop, was in the shop at the time of the incident. “I don’t understand what happened,” said the grieving mother. His wife, inconsolable, only cried, “What shall we live for?” she said.
