The Hyderabad police have registered a case against social media users for posting abusive comments and inappropriate content against Chief Minister A Revant Reddy in the last two days.
A senior Hyderabad Police official confirmed that cases have been registered at various police stations in the Commissionerate against users who posted offensive content after seeking legal opinion.
“If the post is very offensive and exceeds all bounds of decency, legal opinion is taken, and a case is registered and action is taken,” the official said.
Once a complaint is registered, the police first writes to the concerned platform and deletes the content from the platform and initiates further action against the user, another official said.
Amid rising cases of social media abuse, police officials are closely tracking the activities of abusers who circulate unverified and malicious content on the platforms.
