To commemorate the 97th anniversary of BR Ambedkar’s destruction of Manusmriti in 1927, members of the Dalit Sanghsar Samithi staged a protest at the Jagat Circle here on Wednesday and burnt copies of the religious book. and gender.

Under the leadership of state coordinator Arjun Bhadre, members of the Dalit Sangharsh Samiti took out a fake funeral procession of Manusmriti and burnt the text at Jagat Circle.

Mr. Bhadre said that Manusmriti justified the exploitative social system by maintaining Varnashram. This burning of Manusmriti will symbolize the burning of the history of exploitation. Dr. Ambedkar was convinced that as long as right-wing Brahminical ideology remained dominant, India could never progress, he recalled.

Dr Ambedkar publicly burnt the Manusmriti on 25 December 1927 during the Mahad Satyagraha, Bhadre added.

‘We have been fighting against caste discrimination for centuries. Dr. Ambedkar was the first person to openly raise his voice against such practices 100 years ago and even today we need to collectively fight the Sangh family ideologically and politically before it becomes dangerous to the nation,” said Bhadre.
