Haryana will launch an awareness campaign for the New Education Policy (NEP) on January 12, celebrating Swami Vivekananda Jayanti. The central government aims to implement the NEP by 2030, while Haryana plans to roll it out by 2025.
Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda said, “The state is fully prepared to implement the NEP. As part of the awareness campaign, seminars will be organized in universities, colleges and schools to gather feedback from teachers. Suggestions will also be solicited online through audio, video and written format. In addition, students will use street plays to spread awareness about NEP.
In a review meeting with officials of the Education Department on Tuesday, Dhanda emphasized that Haryana should become a model to implement Nepal throughout the country and directed the Education Department to prepare a detailed action plan for this.
Dhanda suggested setting up suggestion boxes in colleges, schools and universities to connect students directly with policy. “Based on the written suggestions received, a framework will be prepared to improve the NEP. Seminars should be conducted in schools, colleges and universities to ensure that every student clearly understands the NEP.
Recalling the role of digital technology in the modern age, the minister proposed to create an online portal so that students can submit their suggestions. “The portal will also be open to the general public, academics and experts in the education sector, ensuring easy access for all to contribute. This will help the students to avoid any difficulties in the upcoming academic session, said the minister.
Additionally, he suggested appointing athletes, NCC cadets and talented students as brand ambassadors of NEP. “Their influence will help students connect with the policy easily,” the minister said.
The Minister said that NEP aims to include students from disadvantaged backgrounds in the education system. He directed the education department to make a strategy so that no underprivileged student is deprived of education.
