A day later Accused of fake medical degree scam Alleging that the main accused Rasesh Gujarati is related to each other, the blame game has started between BJP and Congress.
While state home minister Harsh Sanghvi alleged that the Gujarati was a Congress leader, Surat city president of the Congress Dhansukh Rajput claimed that the man in question was in the party for only one year in 2019, and much before the alleged scam.
Congress leaders, on Friday evening, also shared pictures of Gujarati with the BJP leader, allegedly from an event organized for doctors on January 11, on various social media platforms.
On the sidelines of an event, Sanghvi told mediapersons: “Rashesh, who was arrested in the racket of selling fake medical certificates, is a Gujarati Congress leader. Congress leaders made him the president of Doctor Cell. He is doing business of selling fake medical degrees in Surat city. This leader is an anti-social element and has created many frauds through fake medical certificates. Our police will investigate where the money earned by selling fake medical degrees went. We have come to know that the amount raised by Gujarati and others has been sent to various (political) parties.”
He further questioned, ‘Why did the Congress make him the president of Doctor Cell?
Sanghvi, who was participating in the Tera Tujko Arpan program, handed over the stolen gold ornaments recovered from a Jain temple in Navsari district to the priest of the temple in an event organized in Vesu area of Surat on Friday afternoon.
Talking to The Indian Express, Congress leader Rajput said, “Rashesh Gujarati joined the Congress along with Dr Ravindra Patil. Both were previously in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was made the president of Dr. Cell but later left the party along with Dr. Patil. As long as he was in Congress, no criminal case was registered against him. He has no connection with Congress. In all these years, he has neither gone to the Congress office nor to any public meeting of the party. Party has nothing to do with Gujaratis. The Home Minister of the state is unnecessarily dragging the name of the Congress in this matter. We condemn the statement.”
