Grenade attack in Gurdaspur: Three Khalistan Zindabad Force members killed in encounter

Three suspected terrorists allegedly involved in the Gurdaspur grenade attack were killed in an encounter with a joint team of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police in Pilivit on Monday (December 23, 2024), Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said. The accused have been identified as Gurwinder Singh (25), Birendra Singh alias Ravi (23), and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh (18), all residents of Gurdaspur in Punjab.

This encounter took place in Puranpur area of ​​Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh Police Additional Director General (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash said that all three were involved in the grenade attack on the Gurdaspur police station.

“Three people were seriously injured in the encounter and were immediately taken to CHC Puranpur for treatment,” he said.

The ADG told PTI that the three suspects later succumbed to their injuries.

Two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and a large cache of ammunition have been recovered from them, he said.

In a post on X, the Punjab police chief said, “#In a major breakthrough against the Pakistan-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terrorist module, a joint operation by UP Police and Punjab Police led to an encounter with three module members who fired at a police party.” He said that this terrorist module is involved in grenade attacks on police installations in border areas of Punjab.

“An encounter between joint police teams of Pilibhit and Punjab took place in the jurisdiction of PS Puranpur, Pilibhit and three module members were involved in a grenade attack on a police station in #Gurdaspur.

The DGP said that investigations are on to uncover the entire terror module.
