However, people with type 1 diabetes need to consult their doctor before starting any exercise routine. “Timing of exercise is important for type 1 diabetics to avoid hypoglycemia, especially if insulin has recently been administered,” Dr Arora said. “Making sure exercise is done at a safe time can prevent sudden drops in blood sugar.
