Karimnagar: The Congress government has given importance to farmers’ welfare and development, Chief Whip of the government Adi Srinivas said at the swearing-in ceremony of the Vemulawada Agricultural Market Committee in Rajanna Sirsilla district on Sunday.
Srinivas highlighted that the Congress government waived off Rs 21,000 crore in farm loans of 25 lakh farmers in its first year. Additionally, ₹ 55,000 crore has been allocated for various farmer-support initiatives. He criticized the BRS government for failing to waive off loans and compensate farmers for damage caused by heavy rains, alleging misuse of funds under Rithu Bandhu Yojana.
The Congress-led government introduced crop insurance and launched the Rithu Bharosa scheme in January. Measures like providing lorry agencies for paddy transport and ₹500 bonus per quintal of harvested paddy are aimed at mitigating the challenge to farmers. Srinivas reiterated the government’s commitment to development under the slogan “Young India, Rising Telangana”.
