A gang of 12 people involved in looting gold, silver and bronze jewelery worth 1 crore 2 lakhs has been arrested by the Central Zone Task Force team and the Domalguda police.
A gang led by Indrajit Ghorai, younger brother of victim Ranjit Ghorai, carried out a planned robbery at Ranjith’s house in Domalguda on the morning of December 12, Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand said.
Between 3:30 am and 4 am, the gang barged into Ranjith’s house with axes, knives, sickles and light guns to threaten the family. They absconded in an SUV with more than 1.2 kg of gold jewellery, 616 grams of silver, bronze items and Rs 2.9 lakh in cash.
Among those arrested are chief planner and chief planner Indrajit Ghorai, 43, along with 23-year-old Altaf Mohammad Khan, 44-year-old Syed Irfan Ahmed, 40-year-old Mohammad Noor Ullah, 40-year-old Habib Hussain, 46-year-old Sheikh Shabbir, 25-year-old Mohammad Arbaz. , Shoaib Khan, 22, Ghulam Makdoom alias Shonu, 29, 24-year-old Shaikh Usman alias Saif, 29-year-old Shaikh Allauddin alias Mirza and 21-year-old Shaikh Akram. Three more accomplices Shahbaz, Nazir and Zaheer are absconding.

Determined to recover his losses, Indrajit conspired with Altaf Mohammad Khan and Syed Irfan Ahmed, gradually assembling a team of associates, including rowdy sheeters and criminals with previous convictions,” the official said.
