Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai on Sunday (December 22) in Kozhikode Dr. K. Released ‘Ante Jeevatham Niraye: Autobiography of a Nephrologist’ by Thomas Mathew. Chairman and Managing Director of Baby Memorial Hospital Dr KG Alexander received the book and the program was presided over by MLA Thotathil Ravindran.
Dr. K. Thomas Mathew has completed 50 years in the field of nephrology. His contributions include setting up Kerala’s first dialysis unit at the Government Medical College, Kozhikode in 1975, the first kidney transplant surgery in the state, and starting the first Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) programme. His efforts also led to the establishment of the first postgraduate nephrology course in Kerala.
Mr. Pillai said in his speech. points out that Mathew’s autobiography reflects the history of nephrology in Kerala. “This book covers a remarkable life and serves as valuable study material. A candid account of contemporary life is like a service to God,” he said.
The preface of the book written by Saji George was presented in the program. Former principal of Government Medical College, Kozhikode, Dr. Children of Dr. LV Swarnam, Mathew. Jayant Thomas Mathew and Dr. Anila Abraham, both nephrologists were present.
