Mumbai-based 17-year-old rifle shooter and cancer survivor Sahil Bache is eager to compete in the 67th National Shooting Championship but lacks the necessary funds for his travel and participation in the tournament in Bhopal.
The 10-day competition has started from Sunday and the rest of the programs will start from Wednesday. However, he is worried because the players playing in the national tournament have to bear all the expenses.
“I need money to cover my travel expenses, transportation, accommodation, and other related costs and to enable my participation in these upcoming games. A total of Rs 1.5 lakh is required for this. Even these urgent events will enable me to perform without being distracted by financial constraints. Enables concentration,” Bachay said.
Usha, the mother of the survivor, said that they have taken the initiative to help, but no positive response has been received so far. “We have some money but it is not enough, we tried to get help from local well-wishers and politicians but there is no response. We also have less time,’ she added.
A survivor of cancer, she won a gold medal in the inter-school rifle shooting competition last year. He is scheduled to participate in the 10m men’s rifle, 10m rifle junior and 10m rifle youth men events to be held in Bhopal.
“We hope that someone will help us so that my child can go and participate in these programs. Even a small help can help my son participate in the program,” said Usha.
