BSNL to launch eSIM by March, complete India-wide 4G rollout by June 2025

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has shared some important updates regarding the rollout of its 4G network and other related services during the “Ask BSNL” campaign held on December 20. The company confirmed that it will launch eSIM services by March 2025, a significant update for those using Apple and Google-made smartphones, which come with a single physical SIM card slot and an eSIM slot.

The state-owned telecom service provider has confirmed that it will complete the nationwide 4G rollout by June 2025 and also roll out other related services like VoLTE and VoWiFi in a phased manner.

Sandeep Govil, director, consumer mobility, BSNL board, also confirmed that there are no plans for a tariff hike at the moment, a big relief for those considering switching to BSNL after three private telcos in India recently hiked rates. .

BSNL’s 4G network will be powered by 22,000 towers, which will be installed across the country under the 4G Saturation Project. The company plans to have a total of 1,00,000 towers, which will be further expanded in future phases as per the requirement.

BSNL has recently been announcing new services, including a global satellite phone service, where it is the exclusive service provider in India. It is also the first service provider in the country to offer direct-to-device satellite service, although there is not much information on how to subscribe.
