Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma on Sunday said that his government has saved more than Rs 33 crore in electricity expenditure in the last nine months.
Money was saved through accurate billing, automatic disconnection, individual metering, self-payment by ministers and officials and installation of smart meters in government offices, Sharma said in a post on X.
Talking to the media later, he said that after automatic disconnection in government offices, electricity consumption has been saved.
He said that even after solar lights were installed in the provincial secretariat, the tariff was reduced.
“Now ministers, officials pay their own bills, which has also led to government savings, amounting to over Rs 33 crore in the last nine months,” the chief minister said.
