A contract for the construction of eight ASW SWC ships was signed on 30 April 2019 between the Ministry of Defense and Cochin Shipyard Limited. The Mahe class of ships will replace the Indian Navy’s in-service Abhay class ASW corvettes and is designed to perform anti-counterfeiting duties. – Supervise submarine operations in coastal waters, low intensity marine operations and mine laying operations including subsurface. Cochin Shipyard signed a contract on 30 March 2023 for the manufacture and supply of six Next Generation Missile Vessels for the Indian Navy. The order value of these six vessels is ₹ 9,804 crore. Delivery of the first ship will take place in March 2027.
