Allegation of ‘conspiracy to murder’ by CT Ravi, demands judicial probe

Alleging a “conspiracy to kill” him using the police, BJP MLC CT Ravi on Saturday (Dec 21, 2024) demanded a judicial inquiry into the case filed against him and how he was “mistreated” by the police. Many villages overnight.

Ravi was arrested from Balagavi on Thursday for allegedly using insulting words against Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar in the Legislative Council. However, on Friday evening, the Karnataka High Court directed the police to immediately release him from custody.

Addressing reporters at the BJP office a day after the release, Mr Ravi alleged that the police action amounted to nothing but “mental and physical torture”. “I have a strong suspicion that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar are planning something against me. My life is still in danger and I demand a judicial inquiry into it,” he said.

‘The phone is tapped’

Alleging that his phone was tapped, Ravi said, “I want the government to provide me with adequate security. If something happens to me, the government should take responsibility.”

Narrating the alleged police action, the BJP MLC claimed that the police took him to several districts and sugarcane fields during the night. “I suspect that they ordered me to finish or attack me. Thankfully the media and our party workers followed us and nothing happened. There was someone repeatedly calling the police and giving instructions on the way. Someone was asking the police to take my phone. Police call The records need to be investigated because it gives details of where I was taken. A judicial inquiry will reveal everything,’ he said.

‘Banana Republic?’

He also said that the matter of his phone being tracked should be investigated. “Deputy Chief Minister Belagavi is Ms. Hebbalkar’s constituency and I was lucky to leave. What does he think, is Belagavi a banana republic?” he asked
