Bhopal: A 32-year-old woman died on Saturday after her ‘dupatta’ (scarf) got stuck in the potato peeling machine at the ‘prasad making’ center at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, police said.
Local Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Lakshmi Narayan Garg said that the incident took place in Anna area of the temple on Saturday morning.
The police said that the ‘prasad making’ service has been outsourced to a private company and women are doing the work.
A scarf around her neck got caught in the machine which injured her wind pipe.
The police said that the doctor immediately rushed him to the hospital and declared him dead.
His body was sent for post-mortem.
The SDM said that the government has decided to provide financial support to the relatives of the deceased.
This is the first such incident in the ancient temple of Mahakaleshwar, which worships one of the 12 Jyotirlingas.
