Palakkad: Veteran Malayalam film-cum-serial actress Meena Ganesh died on Thursday at a private hospital in Shornur in Palakkad district where she was undergoing treatment for the past five days, the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) said.
She was 81 years old.
FEFKA general secretary B Unnikrishnan said in a statement that Meena Ganesh acted in more than 200 films, 25 serials and many plays in her long acting career.
He said that he is being treated at a private hospital after suffering a stroke.
She made her debut in 1976 with PA Backer’s ‘Manimuzhakkam’ and her roles in films like ‘Nandanam’, ‘Meeshamadhavan’ and ‘Karumadikutan’ grabbed the attention of the audience, the Directors’ Association of Fife said in a Facebook post.
She is the wife of Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award winner and renowned playwright and director NN Ganesh and her son Manoj Ganesh, a noted serial director and member of the FMTV Directors Association, the Post paid tribute to her.
