The Ahmedabad Civil Hospital has ordered an inquiry after a video of a sorcerer allegedly performing rituals on an ICU patient at the government hospital and taking credit for his treatment went viral, an official said on Wednesday (Dec 18, 2024).
An occultist who identified himself as Mukesh Bhuwa has shared a video of the ritual on Instagram.
After the clip went viral, the hospital’s medical superintendent Dr. Rakesh Joshi issued a video statement urging people not to believe the claims of sorcerers to cure patients.
Dr. Joshi said that an order has been given to investigate the incident.
“We have not faced any such incident in the last 15 days, but we have started an investigation and the CCTV camera footage is being scanned. We will soon find out how and why the person entered the ICU,” he said.
The purported video shows a man wearing a T-shirt and trousers casually walking into an ICU ward and approaching an intubated patient. Then he touches the patient’s head and performs some rituals. The caption of the video reads that it was his miracle that gave the patient a new life.
Mr. Bhuva’s Instagram page has more videos showing him performing the ritual on patients. A video shows a patient, reportedly recovering from a serious head injury, praising him.
Rationalist Jayant Pandey, who has been leading the ‘Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha’, which inculcates scientific spirit in the masses, said, ‘All the guilty should be punished immediately.
