Tamil Nadu leaders hit out at Amit Shah

Chennai: Leaders of several political parties in the state strongly protested Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s derogatory remarks in Parliament targeting BR Ambedkar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for alleged ‘sins’ of the Congress.

Chief Minister MK Stalin in a message on X said that those who commit many sins alone should worry about ‘Punya’ (salvation) while those who protect the country, the people and the constitution will only utter Ambedkar’s name. .

Stalin ridiculed the slogan ‘Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar’ as a new fashion and was pointing to Shah’s statement that if he took the name of God, he would reach heaven in the next seven lives.

Like Stalin, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) founder president Vijay also attacked Shah without naming him. Vijay said that Ambedkar’s name may be an anathema to some random people but the people of India, breathing the air of freedom, regard him as a political icon, known for his scientific nature.

Stating that the name ‘Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar’ will always be pleasing to the heart and lips, he condemned Shah’s statement and said that he will not allow the downfall of his ideological leader.

Other leaders such as VCK President Thol Thirumavalavan and Deputy Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin, however, did not mince words. Udayanidhi Stalin openly denounced the Shah as fascists trying to destroy the constitution Ambedkar had given to the nation, ‘for whatever reason Ambedkar’s name was invoked’.

Ambedkar’s name should be chanted loudly hundreds of times, if it angers the fascists, he said.

VCK President Thol Thirumavalavan said that descendants of VD Savarkar cannot stomach the entire nation chanting Ambedkar’s name. Their collective displeasure was revealed by Shah’s statement of tearing off his own mask, revealing the true face of the Sangh Parivar.

The Sangh Parivar saw the Congress and the Constitution as its real enemies, which the VCK had been exposing for a long time, he said, adding that otherwise Sangh Parivar-related people’s praise of Ambedkar was only intended to hide the general. people

But that conspiracy of the Sangh Parivar would turn to ashes as revolutionary leader Ambedkar took a new form to kill them, he said.

Filmmaker Pa Ranjith described Ambedkar as ‘a man who taught to rise’. He gave us law, He gave us vision. He turned our darkness into light. We chant his name with grateful pride.’

There were also widespread demands for Shah’s resignation on the X platform and other national political parties also came out against the remarks against Ambedkar. The CPI(M) said: ‘Amit Shah’s insensitive comments insulting Babasaheb Ambedkar have once again exposed the casteist, humanist mentality of the BJP-RSS.’
