Lucknow has rightly earned the moniker of land of Awadhi food. The city’s laid-back atmosphere and old-world atmosphere make Nawabi wander through its range of delicacies. From succulent kebabs to aromatic biryani and mouth-watering sweets, Lucknow is a foodie paradise. Recently, acclaimed director Imtiaz Ali and his brother Sajid Ali, directed the 2018 film Laila Majnu, Pak was busy on a culinary tour in Lucknow. In a picture posted by Imtiaz Ali on his Instagram story, Sajid was seen standing in a long queue to try their crispy kachoris with other customers at Bajpayee Kachori Bhandar in Hazratganj. And guess what, the price of two kachoris served with chickpeas at the outlet is just Rs 40.

Biryani is a must in Lucknow. After the unspoken ritual, Imtiaz Ali visited the famous Idris Biryani. A group of men were shown engaged in the cooking process in a minimal-looking shop. ICYDK: Idris Biryani Known for its delicious Mutton Biryani filled with tender and super soft meat chunks. Their Chicken Biryani is equally loved by many. Although Imtiaz Ali’s foodies brought him to the shop, we couldn’t find out if he was treating himself to a plate of mutton biryani in the snap. “Behind the scenes” read the caption. Imtiaz Ali seems to be a fan of Lucknowi food. Also in January, the director visited the place and indulged in the joy of exploring Lucknow’s diverse street food. Want to know what was on the menu? Well, the director treated himself to a plate of gram puri combo. The puri was served with chana sabzi and garnished with fried green chillies, chopped onions and radish.
