An ongoing feud between singers and rappers AP Dhillon and Punjabi Superstar Diljit Dosanjh Dhillon took center stage during his Chandigarh concert. Dhillon asked the Hus Hus singer to unblock him on Instagram, a comment that came days after Diljit extended warm wishes to Dhillon and fellow singer Karan Aujla at his Indore concert.
On the Indore leg of his Dil-Luminati India tour, Diljit congratulated the two actors, saying, “Karan Aujla and AP Dhillon have started their tour with me and two brothers, good luck to them too (My two brothers, Karan Aujla and AP Dhillon have already started their tour; good luck to them too).
The AP delay, however, seemed to hint at an underlying tension. Addressing the audience in Chandigarh, he remarked, “I want to say one small thing, brother. First, unblock me on Instagram and then talk to me (with Diljit Dosanjh). I don’t want to talk about what marketing is going on, but unblock me first. Three I have been working for years. Have you seen me in any controversy?”
Diljit Dosanjh immediately responded by denying any animosity on Instagram. Writing in Punjabi, he said, ‘I have never blocked you. Mere pange sarkar nal ho sakde aa….kalakaran nal ni (My problem may be with the government… not the artists).
The exchange comes in the backdrop of Diljit Dosanjh’s tumultuous relationship with state officials during his ongoing tour. In Telangana, a notice was issued prohibiting the performance of songs promoting alcohol, drugs or violence at his concerts. Similarly, the organizers of his Chandigarh concert received a notice for violating the noise limit. At the December 14 Chandigarh event, Diljit also expressed frustration with India’s concert infrastructure, announcing that he would not perform in the country again until proper facilities were ensured.
Meanwhile, AP Dhillon completed the Brownprint Tour in Chandigarh on December 21. He also performed in New Delhi and Mumbai.
