Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, who has sung some of Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic songs like “Tauba Tumhare Ishare” and “Wo Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai” from Badshah He has opened up about his strained relationship with the superstar. Talking to ANI, Abhijeet explained why he stopped singing for Shahrukh. “When self-esteem is hit, you want to say ‘enough’. I didn’t sing for him (Shah Rukh); I was singing for my work. But when I saw that the tea vendor on the set knew everyone but didn’t recognize the singer, I thought, ‘Why should I be your voice?’, he said.
“The worst part is that even my contemporary singers, who worked in those films, later came to me and said, ‘Dada, this is wrong.’ I told them, ‘You have to stop too. I will see what happens now.’ It didn’t just happen once; This happened in two films. I told them to go and talk to Farah (Khan) about it, ‘Unless you give credit, we won’t sing for the film.’ They said, ‘You go and tell Farah.’ I said, ‘Why should I do it? I tell Shahrukh directly, “I will not sing for you until you accept,” he added.

Despite the rift, Abhijeet says he has no complaints. “It’s not that my relationship with Shah Rukh has broken, but Shah Rukh has become such a big star now that he is no longer just a person. Perhaps he also does not know what level he has reached. So why should I expect anything from him? I’m still the same person; I’m growing in my own way. I am 5-6 years older than him. He is over 60, and I am in my 60s. No one needed to apologize. We both have egos. Our birthdays are only a day away; We are both Scorpios. But I am the biggest Scorpio. I don’t need him or his support,” the singer said.
Meanwhile, British pop star Dua Lipa recently mashup of Badshah’s song “Wo Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai” during a live concert. When the performance became a trending topic in India, it drew criticism from Abhijeet’s son Jai Bhattacharya, who scolded the singer for not giving credit to his father.
Abhijeet and Shah Rukh have worked together on many iconic tracks. From Badshah’s “Wo Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai” to the title track of Chalte Chalte, the singer’s voice was an integral part of SRK’s on-screen appeal in the late 90s and early 2000s.
