University of Southampton: Expansion Plan for India Campus
United Kingdom’s Southampton University will run 30 courses and enroll over 5,000 students over the next eight years at its first offshore campus in India, PTI reported.
PTI quoted Andrew Atherton, Vice President of International and Engagement as saying, “The target is to reach 5,500 students in the first eight to 10 years. So the first year will start small. We will launch six courses, including four undergraduate and two postgraduate programs. The four UG programs will be in computing with a focus on AI and data science and also in business with a focus on entrepreneurship. Postgraduate programs will be in Computing and Technology. And then every year, we will introduce between two and four new programs so that we will build more than 30 different programs, about 20 undergraduate and 12 postgraduate teaching programs.
According to a PTI report, the Indian campus fees will be around 60 percent of the UK campus tuition fees. However, the admission requirements will remain the same as the main campus.
