Before leaving for their extended CWC meeting in Belagavi to celebrate 100 years of Mahatma Gandhi’s one and only term as Congress president, the Congress leaders interacted with reporters in a lighthearted mood. Party’s communication in-charge Jairam Ramesh told the media that party leader Pawan Khera is a very good singer and asked Khera to sing. Khera said that he would sing in Belagavi, but he took out an old song he had sung, uploaded it to X and played it for the journalists. Praising Khera again, Jairam played Lata Mangeshkar’s favorite Bollywood songs – “Ajeeb Dastan Hai Ye…” – on YouTube and turned on his mobile phone’s loudspeaker to let journalists savor the tune.
Belagavi Calling
After the Congress directed all top leaders to attend the Congress Working Committee meeting in Belagavi on Thursday, some have struggled to get air tickets to the city. For the past few days, this small town in Karnataka has seen traffic jams, and flights to and from the city are also mostly full. Sources said a group of leaders led by former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda has decided to charter a flight to the city on Thursday to reach in time for the meeting.
For a reason
To tackle drug abuse through spirituality, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) recently signed an agreement with five major organizations – Art of Living, Prajapita Brahma Kumari, ISKCON, Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation and Sri Ramachandra Mission – under Mission Spandan. NCB will coordinate all technical support, educational resources and local authorities, while spiritual organizations will lead awareness campaigns, youth-focused programs and community engagement initiatives.
