It is said that Devansh, the nine-year-old son of Information Technology Minister Nar Lokesh, has set a world record in the category of ‘Fastest Checkmate Solver – 175 Puzzles’. The World Book of Records issued a certificate for the same on December 21.
According to a press release, it was a record-setting event in which Devansh successively solved a series of challenging checkmate puzzles, the famous chess compilation ‘5334 problems, combinations, and games selected by László Polgar under a tight time limit.
Mr. Lokesh said that he was excited by Devansh’s achievement and the help of his mother Brahmani and coach K. Rajasekhara Reddy’s guidance said this was possible. He said Devansh had been training hard for the last six months with laser-sharp focus and was inspired by the excellent performances of Indian chess players on the global stage.
Coach Rajasekhar Reddy said Devansh was learning chess creatively and his mental agility was immense as he was able to solve 175 complex puzzles quickly. Devansh also achieved two more records completing the Seven Disc Tower in Hanoi in 1 minute 43 seconds and arranging 9 chess boards in 5 minutes with all 32 in the correct position. All record attempts are thoroughly scrutinized by judges and officials from the World Book of Records, London.
