Ahead of Delhi elections, AAP starts door-to-door enrollment today for women and senior citizen schemes Delhi News

AAP volunteers and leaders will go door to door across Delhi from Monday Register individuals for two state government schemes -Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana – which the party believes could be a game changer in the upcoming assembly elections.

Announcing the launch of the registration drive on Sunday, AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal unveiled prototypes of two cards – one yellow and the other blue.

The Mukh Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana, under which tax-paying women up to the age of 60 will be given Rs 1,000 per month, was announced as part of the Delhi government’s budget in March this year but is yet to be implemented. Earlier this month, Kejriwal announced that if AAP is returned to power in elections in February next year, the amount will be increased to Rs 2,100 per month.

The Sanjeevani scheme, announced last week, promises free treatment at government and private hospitals to all Delhi voters above the age of 60.

Addressing the press conference, Kejriwal said, “Registration of the scheme will start from tomorrow. No one has to go anywhere or stand in line; Our volunteers will come to your home and complete the registration.”

He said that everyone who wants to register should submit their voter ID card.

Kejriwal said he will also go door-to-door with Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to register people.

The announcement came ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections where AAP is seeking a third consecutive term.

AAP and Kejriwal hit back at BJP’s allegations that the party is promoting a freebie culture.

“The BJP and the Prime Minister tried to corner us by calling the services we provide to the public as free ‘revdis’. We are only paying back the people with our own money. Providing basic life services to the people is the foundation of our politics. We will not take it as an insult but as a badge of honour,” said a senior AAP leader.

Kejriwal said, ‘We know how hard our mothers and sisters work. They work from 4 in the morning till 10 or 11 at night and take care of the household… Many of these mothers and sisters also go to work. To make their lives easier, we have announced to deposit Rs 2100 in their accounts every month.”

“There are many girls whose college studies are interrupted after class 12 due to lack of finances. This money will enable them to continue their studies… For housewives, this amount will help them manage household expenses amid rising inflation due to central government policies,” he said.

On the need for Sanjeevani Yojana, Kejriwal said, “Many middle-class people spend their entire lives working hard, paying lakhs and crores in income tax and GST, and contributing to the progress of the country. But they After reaching 60 years of age, we have seen that their children sometimes ignore them. ‘You don’t need to worry now AAP government will take care of you.

He said that AAP volunteers will also check whether the names of the residents are in the voter list issued by the State Election Commission.

“Some people are deleting your votes en masse… If your vote has been deleted, let our team know, and we’ll restore it. If you don’t have a voter ID card, let us know, and we’ll help you get it, Kejriwal said. “Please have your voter ID card ready, and check its status so that you can register for both schemes when our teams arrive.”

According to officials, there are likely to be 3.5 lakh beneficiaries of Mahila Samman Yojana and 10-15 lakh beneficiaries of Sanjeevani Yojana.
