Chief Minister MK Stalin on Sunday said it was his wish that history would praise the DMK rule as Tamil Nadu’s golden period, just as the rule of the Cholas was described.
Addressing the party’s high-level executive meeting on Sunday, Mr. Stalin, who is also the DMK president, said history must record that the men in black and red marked Tamil Nadu’s golden period of governance.
“Our party and government enjoy the goodwill of women. This goodwill should be converted into votes. The trust of young and new voters must also be won. We have to communicate in their language, and stick to the trend,” he added.
The Chief Minister added that it is the duty of DMK workers and cadres to convey to the people the achievements of Tamil Nadu under the Dravidian movement in the last 75 years. He also cited statistics to support his contention that the AIADMK was rejected by the people in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“The AIADMK led by former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has lost an average of 1.5 lakh votes per constituency. Why does he (Mr. Palaniswami) refuse to condemn the BJP government for allowing tungsten mining in Madurai? Did he criticize Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his comments against BR Ambedkar? Does he have the guts to speak out against the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi? He only raises his voice against DMK. He thinks that his vociferous attacks against DMK will make him MGR and Jayalalithaa. People will only remember his betrayal…’ he added.
He further said that DMK and its allies will win the 2026 assembly elections whether opposition parties form alliances or fight alone to split votes. “But there is no room for complacency. Winning 200 seats is not easy. You have to work hard…’ he added.
