GATE Exam Time Table 2025: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has announced the exam schedule for Graduate Eligibility Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. GATE 2025 will be administered on weekends, with sessions scheduled for morning and afternoon. The morning session runs from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, while the afternoon session runs from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

This year GATE will introduce 30 exam papers, from which candidates can choose up to two papers. The exam will consist of three types of questions – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Choice Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. In MCQs, only one option is correct, while in MSQs there may be one or more correct answers. For NAT questions, candidates have to input their answers using the virtual keypad.

What has changed in GATE 2025 exam?
One of the most notable updates is the addition of two new subjects: Geomatics Engineering (GE) and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NM). With these inclusions, the total number of exam papers has increased to 30, widening the scope of participation of students from various fields.
Candidates now have the option of selecting two exam papers from prescribed combinations, giving them more flexibility to tailor their exam options to suit their skills and career aspirations. This change allows students to explore interdisciplinary opportunities and broaden their possibilities.
Another important amendment is the relaxation of eligibility criteria. Earlier candidates had to have minimum 10+2+4 (ongoing) qualification. It has now been relaxed to 10+2+3 (ongoing), which enables students in the third year of undergraduate studies to appear for the examination. This adjustment provides an early opportunity to the candidates to gauge their preparation and improve their chances of getting good results.

The format for GATE 2025 remains purely objective type, with questions presented in three formats:
