Nara Devansh sets world record in chess, CM Naidu happy

Vijayawada: 9-year-old Devansh Nara, grandson of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and son of Education, IT, Electronics and RTGS Minister Lokesh, holds the world record for “Fastest Checkmate Solver – 175 puzzles”.

The record-setting event saw Devansh tackle a series of progressively challenging checkmate puzzles, all selected from the famous chess collection by László Polgar, within a tight time limit.

The World Book of Records London inspected the event held at NTR Bhavan in Hyderabad on December 18 before issuing the certificate.

Devansh attributed the record to coach K. Besides Rajasekhara Reddy, he gave to his parents Brahmini and Lokesh. His thrilled father Lokesh said, “I saw Devansh train with laser sharp focus, and embraced the sport with passion. He is inspired by the outstanding performance of Indian chess players in the global arena. He has trained for about six months for the program.

Devansh’s enthusiastic coach Rajasekhar Reddy said, “His mental agility is immense. I am sure this world record is just a milestone in his chess journey!

Carrying X, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said, “Well done, @naradevaansh! Congratulations on setting the world record for the fastest checkmate solver by completing 175 puzzles! Hard work, persistence and perseverance are the keys to success. You must have spent many months preparing for this feat. Worked diligently, and I am proud of you, my little Grand Master!”

Devansh’s mother Brahmani wrote, “Delighted to share that @naradevaansh has achieved a world record. Witnessing Devansh’s dedication and perseverance over the years is truly inspiring.

Ministers Kolusu Parthasarathy, M. Ramprasad Reddy and K. Achannanidu congratulated Devansh for setting a new world record.
