Hyderabad: Murders, kidnappings, rapes and dowry deaths have registered an upward trend in Rachakonda in 2024, Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudhir Babu said here on Monday.
In 2024, murders have increased by 11 percent, kidnapping cases, minor disappearances, and rape cases including false promises of marriage have increased by 10 percent and 11 percent, respectively, while deaths due to dowry have increased by 13 percent.
Compared to 420 last year, there were 463 kidnappings in 2024, 66 in 2023 and 73 murders in 2024 in Rachakonda Police Commissionerate. 384 cases of rape were registered in 2024 compared to 327 in 2023 and 18 deaths due to dowry in 2024 compared to 16 in 2023.
However, there has been a decrease in cases of domestic violence, abuse and POCSO, robbery, robbery, robbery, automobile and general theft. Addressing the annual press conference, Sudhir Babu said that the year 2024 will be celebrated with an unwavering commitment to justice, public safety and community welfare, with special emphasis on visible policing, quick response (VQT) and integration of technology to control rising crime. “Aligning with the Telangana State Government’s mission, we have intensified our efforts against drug abuse and smuggling. Through coordinated efforts, this year we have arrested 521 NDPS and drug offenders and seized drugs worth Rs 88.25 crore and kept effective surveillance on 159 drug peddlers,” he said. .
Dealing with a caseload of 33,084 cases at an appreciable 76 per cent resolution rate which is the highest in the state, Rachakonda Commissionerate registered 64 per cent prosecution rate which is the highest in Telangana for major crimes for the sixth consecutive year.

“Accidents have decreased by 12.30 percent and death rates by 12.21 percent. These efforts underline our dedication to deliver speedy and effective justice to the community,” said Sudhir Babu.
With the VQT being a major initiative, the introduction of bicycle patrols with the active participation of women officers, visible policing and community interaction has increased public confidence. “Our blue colts and patrol cars handled 2,41,742 dial 100 calls with an average response time of 8.37 mts which is the highest in the state.
