Congress has opposed Amit Shah’s comments about Ambedkar

Hyderabad: The Congress staged a state-wide protest on Tuesday demanding the removal of Union Home Minister Amit Shah from the Union Cabinet over his alleged derogatory remarks about Constitution maker Dr BR Ambedkar.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Wickremarka, ministers, party MLAs, UML and MPs participated in the protest rally in all the districts. Congress leaders petitioned the President through District Collectors to sack Amit Shah.

The rallies were part of the ‘Babasahab Samman March’, a nationwide campaign launched by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to honor Dr Ambedkar and against alleged attempts to undermine constitutional values.

In Hyderabad, the state Congress took out a protest rally from Tank Bandh to Lakdikapul. Before the rally at the Hyderabad Collectorate in Lakdikapul, the participants paid floral tributes to the statue of Dr Ambedkar near the tank. Demonstrators dressed in blue and carrying placards condemned Amit Shah’s remarks and chanted slogans demanding his immediate resignation.

TPCC president and MLC B Mahesh Kumar Goud led the demonstration. Addressing the rallies, Goud said, “Amit Shah’s comments have deeply hurt the sentiments of all citizens who believe in the Constitution. We demand his immediate removal from the Union Cabinet.

Goud also accused the BJP of harboring a hidden agenda to replace the Indian constitution with Manusmriti, claiming that Shah’s remarks were a reflection of this larger plan. “BJP and RSS are not only distorting history, but also weakening the fabric of our democracy,” he alleged.

AICC general secretary and Telangana in-charge Deepa Dasmunshi has warned that the Congress will intensify the agitation until Amit Shah is removed. Criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the issue, she said, “BJP is systematically promoting Manusmriti in the Indian Constitution and this cannot be tolerated.”

Prominent Congress leaders including Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Koppula Raju, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, TPCC Executive President Anjan Kumar Yadav and District Congress Committee President C Rohin Reddy were present.
